Leipzig Part II
Staying in a city for almost two weeks, Leipzig began to feel like home. I became a regular at the Tuesday/Friday market, patroned the local ice cream stand mulitple times, had my favorite chair at Starbucks, and saw the Ramada as my home. I also went running a lot to get the lay of the land. One morning I plotted out on the map a route to the LDS church building where I was planning to go on Sunday and began my run, giving myself about an hour. I ran and ran, and didn't find the church . . . but did find a HUGE monument commorating the battle of the nations and Napoleon. SUPER OSTENTATIOUS! I decided to call in the monstrosity. Later that day a group of us went to the top of the one skyscraper in town and ate lunch looking out at the view. The Monstrosity was loud and proud against an otherwise flat landscape.
In terms of history, I lost my stamina for Leipzig museums, but did a few day trips to other historically significant places, which made Leipzig feel even more like home. I will always think fondly of Bach's stomping ground.
