Leipzig nightlife for me consisted of the following: Monday: Free chamber orchestra concert at Thomaskirche (The church where he was Kantor) Tuesday: Bach Competition - Vocal Semi-finals (phenomenal singers from Iceland, Germany, Norway) located at the Grassi museum, full of beautiful Renaissance and Baroque instruments Wednesday: Bach Competition - Vocal Semi-finals located at a gorgeous old church Thurdsday: Schumann concert performed by grad school vocalists at the Schuman house! Friday: Bach Competition - Vocal finals located at same gorgeous church; also, West Side Story compliments of the girl who plays Maria (the cast was staying at the Ramada) Saturday: Bach Concert where the winners and runners up performed at the Thomas Kirche in organ, vocals, and cello, accompanied by small orchestra and choir when needed Sunday: Carmina Berana at same gorgeous old church Monday: Screening of French film about Bach for our group. Hilarious to watch this weird movie with fellow Bachians (not to be confused with Bacchus, although they did serve wine and cheese) Tuesday: freebe Wednesday: A group reading of Bach in Leipzig - hilarious, again with snacks Thursday: Group dinner with the professors, where Goethe used to go drink during his college days Leipzig nights were incredible!
