Yesterday Courtney and I rented a little Fiat and drove around Tuscany, happening upon San Gimignano--a small medieval town with towers referred to in Dante--, an old monastery, and beautiful fields lined with olive trees and fruit trees (maybe aproicot?). We also relaxed at a fun pool patroned by locals about 5 miles outside of Siena, surrounded by the countryside. We topped off the night with gelatto and a viewing of Marriage of Figaro in an outdoor medieval square back in San Gimignano, though it started so late that we only made it through the first half before bringing our little car safely home.
